This Too Shall Pass

It’s said that the only constant in life is change. And still we hang on to one continuous identity. By the time we’re old we’ve replaced every cell in our bodies many times, literally making us not the same thing we were before. Ever changing waters pass through a river, its constant flow carving new paths over time. In cities buildings come down, buildings go up, streets are repaved, renamed, sometimes even removed. Yet I am still me, the Mississippi is still the Mississippi, and Charleston is still Charleston. This image seeks to illustrate the idea of maintaining an identity over time through constant change.
